Adapted from The Encyclopedia of Creative Cooking
Ingredients:
2 T peanut or corn oil
1 t soy sauce
1/2 t sugar
2 t sherry
3 cups onions, thinly sliced (one large one will do)
2 t cornstarch
1 T soy sauce
1 1/2 lbs beef round, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1 t garlic, minced
1 can mushrooms, optional
Directions:
1. Heat oil in large skillet ith 1 tespoon soy sauce, sugar, and 1 teaspoon sherry. Saute onions.
2. Mix cornstarch, 1 T soy sauce, and 1 t sherry in bowl. Dredge meat in mixture coating every piece.
3. Add meat to the pan and brown.
4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and garlic.
5. Cover skillet; let simmer 1 hour adding mushrooms, if desired, for the last 10 minutes; stir occasionally.
Yields 4 - 6 servings.
Notes:
Do not use buffalo meat. It doesn't have enough time to cook tender.
