Trying this recipe today:
Chili
Prep. Time 15-20 minutes
Cook time 6 - 8 hours
Servings 8+
1 lb. lean ground beef or turkey
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cups cooked elbow macaroni
1 quart tomato juice
1 pint stewed tomatoes
2 cans (15.5 oz) red beans
3 tablespoons chili powder, add more or less to taste
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cumin (start with the 1/2 teaspoon)
1 tablespoon salt, add more or less to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons dried basil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
3-6 cups water, depending on how "soupy" you want it
In skillet, brown ground meat with chopped onion. When meat is cooked, drain off all grease. Crumble meat and onion into crock pot. Combine all ingredients except for the macaroni in the crock pot and stir to blend well. When adding the stewed tomatoes, slice with a knife into bite-sized chunks. Cover with lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Prepare macaroni according to package directions. Rinse in cold water to stop cooking action. Add drained pasta to chili and stir well to blend; then serve.
